Yesterday evening Convention Bureau Brabant (CBB) and VisitBrabant, the marketing organisation for the destination of Brabant signed an agreement stating that the label MeetBrabant will be transferred to VisitBrabant from 1 January 2018. In this way, they aim to increase their joint strength in respect of the international MICE market. From now on, all the activities of MeetBrabant commissioned by the Convention Bureau Brabant will be implemented by VisitBrabant in Oisterwijk.
Since 2011, the CBB has been hard at work highlighting the destination of Brabant to (inter)national planners, organisers and other MICE parties. VisitBrabant has, since it was founded in September 2014, worked with the leisure sector, governments and umbrella organisations to position Brabant as a tourist destination so that more visitors come to Brabant, spend longer here, and spend more money. Robert van Overdijk, board member of CBB: "The clout of VisitBrabant, the synergy in activities and the advantages of a single contact point for both clients and suppliers means that bringing these activities together is the right way forward for the MICE ambitions of Brabant."
The CBB and VisitBrabant worked together more and more often, and strategies and activities gradually became more and more aligned. Because of the increased collaboration, it is no longer necessary or desirable to maintain a separate organisation in the form of the Convention Bureau Brabant. "Market knowledge and marketing power have been brought together in the best way possible. The CBB has developed the foundation over the past few years, and that's something we can build on to further develop Brabant as a MICE destination" says Sef Sweegers, Manager of Business Development at VisitBrabant.
"Just as it has in the leisure market, Brabant stands to gain a lot in this. In particular outside of the provincial borders, if we can harness our strengths in that area."
VisitBrabant and the CBB have spent the last few weeks recording their joint ambitions and will work together closely for the rest of the year, to ensure that from 1 January 2018 the conditions are right to make this step forward a success. In this new form too, intensive collaboration between all the parties is necessary for success. The current board members of the CBB will remain closely involved with MeetBrabant in the future, and this is also the case for both the municipalities/city marketing organisations - those of 's Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven - that are affected.
